Agriland Farm Credit Raises Money To Help Wounded Service Members
AgriLand Farm Credit in Tyler raised $7,400 to help wounded service members recover from their injuries and return to an active, healthy life.
On May 25, AgriLand employees grilled hamburgers and bratwursts outside its Tyler branch office to raise money and awareness for the Wounded Warrior Project, a nonprofit organization that serves injured service members across the nation. In three hours, they served 243 meals in exchange for donations.
AgriLand thanked area businesses that ordered food for their employees and donated up to $50 per meal to support the cause. Dalen Bunch, an Iraq war veteran and loan officer at AgriLand's Paris branch office, said the fundraiser was a huge success. AgriLand has its headquarters in Tyler and is a borrower-owned lending cooperative that finances agricultural production, rural real estate and agribusiness throughout East Texas.

PRESIDENT'S CLUB
Suddenlink announced 11 of its Tyler employees earned the company's prestigious President's Club Award.
They include Steve Boyd, Alex Bolton, Lucas Dutton, Tedric Hasley, Shelly Linville, Chris Little, Lee Pinion, Cassie Seybold, Darrell Seybold, Regina Swearengen and Michelle Thomason. The award recognizes Suddenlink's top performers in sales and sales support. The 11 Tyler honorees were among 71 employees to be chosen for the President's Club for 2011 performance. Suddenlink is a local broadband services provider that employs more than 6,000 people nationwide.

FACULTY MEMBER
Larry Goddard was chosen as a faculty member for the Association of Fundraising Professional's pre-conference training on certification of fundraising executives.
Goddard, who holds the certified fund raising executive certification, was selected as a master faculty member last year. The training was in connection with the DFW Philanthropy Conference June 8 in Arlington. Goddard's subject module was on nonprofit management and included strategic planning, development plans and other functions for certified nonprofit staff members.

BUSINESS MIXER
The Tyler Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce will hold its Quarterly Business Mixer from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. June 28.
The event will be hosted by the Tyler Historic Aviation Memorial Museum, at 150 Airport Drive. Attendees can see the Tuskegee Airmen Exhibit at the museum during the event, which will be sponsored by S&S Selection Choice and One Stop Barber Shop.

Knight Oil Tools, which serves customers in Tyler and Longview, announced Chris Rosson was promoted to global business manager, and Greg Zaunbrecher was promoted to assistant global business manager.
Rosson will be responsible for insuring the proper business infrastructure and operational procedures related to SAP and the company's Rental Tool Management System are in place at Knight Oil Tools' locations worldwide. A native of Shreveport, La., Rosson has been with Knight Oil Tools for more than six years. His most recent position was operations manager for the manufacturing business unit.

Zaunbrecher was a business applications analyst for the company's manufacturing business unit. Focused on providing “zero-failure” equipment and service for 40 years, Knight Oil Tools has grown to be the largest privately held rental and fishing tools business in the oil and gas industry.

The Texas Comptroller's office will conduct a free taxpayer seminar in Tyler July 17.
From 6 to 8 p.m. at the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce Genecov Room, 315 N. Broadway Ave., taxpayers can learn how to properly fill out tax forms, and file and pay taxes electronically. Information about e-services will be available to help taxpayers manage their accounts online. Comptroller representatives will be on hand to answer questions and provide assistance to attendees.

Conducting these seminars and making our team of tax specialists available provides much needed guidance for businesses,” R.J. DeSilva of the comptroller's office said in a statement.

Area elected officials, East Texas Electric Cooperative board members and representatives of Sam Rayburn Generation and Transmission Cooperative gathered to commemorate the beginning of the new generation of renewable power for the cooperative, according to a prepared statement. Timber waste from the immediate area will fuel the plant, creating a renewable energy source that will provide power to about 35,000 area homes upon its expected completion in late 2014.

Its mission is to provide low cost, reliable power to its 308,000 member-owners located throughout 46 counties of East Texas.
