Marvin UMC Expansion Under Way
The $1.5 million expansion of Marvin United Methodist’s Herd Contemporary Worship Center is well under way. Church officials are hopeful the project will be completed no later than Labor Day.

“It will be multi-use and a great addition to downtown,” said Jesse Allen, director of security and facilities.

The contemporary service at Marvin is currently in the gym. Before the Herd auditorium was renovated, more than 100 extra chairs were needed on several occasions, on top of the 245 capacity, Allen said.

The addition of a 150-seat balcony will bring the new capacity to 400, Allen said.

The project is completely paid for by an individual donor and Marvin is “blessed” to be debt-free, senior pastor John Robbins said.
