Man Arrested For Intoxication Assault After Morning Crash
An early morning accident has left one man in critical condition in a Tyler hospital and another in jail for intoxication assault.
Tyler police say they responded to Loop 323 and Troup Highway just after midnight today on an accident.
Police said witnesses told them a small four-door car driven by 23-year-old Casey Patterson was traveling westbound on Loop 323 in the left turn lane preparing to turn south onto Troup when his vehicle was struck by a Chevy truck driven by 24-year-old Lawrence Woodham, who was traveling east bound on Loop 323 and failed to stop for a red light.
Both subjects were transferred to East Texas Medical Center, where Patterson remains in critical condition this morning.
Woodham sustained minor injuries and was subsequently arrested on intoxication assault charges and booked into the Smith County Jail.
Smith County records indicate Woodham was arrested in December for driving while intoxicated.
