Peete Names Grand Prairie’s Dees New Principal
Tyler ISD announced Monday that John Dees will serve as the new principal of Peete Elementary School.
Dees, an assistant principal in Grand Prairie ISD since 2007, will join the district in July.
"I'm excited to join a district, campus and community that share my vision of high expectations for student success," Dees said in a statement.
Dees began his career in education in 1999 as a second-grade teacher and worked as an art teacher for six years.
He will replace Freeman Sterling as principal when he retires at the end of June. Sterling has served as principal of Peete for the past 18 years and served 35 years in education.
"Peete Elementary has a history of strong leadership and academic success," Dees said in the statement. "I look forward to building on a solid foundation to ensure that our future is even brighter than our great past."
Dees received his Bachelor of Arts in interdisciplinary studies at the University of Texas at Arlington, and his Master of Education in educational leadership at Dallas Baptist University.
