Car Hits Funeral Home Retaining Wall In Fatal Crash
A morning car crash in Gladewater today resulted in the death of a 41-year-old man after he hit two utility poles and a brick retaining wall of the funeral home where his vehicle came to rest.

Gladewater Police Chief Farrell Alexander said the accident happened about 1:35 a.m. in the 400 block of Main Street/U.S. Highway 271.

Alexander said Bradley Naismith was traveling south on Main Street in a 2000 Ford flatbed pickup when he failed to negotiate a turn.

“The vehicle failed to negotiate a curve in the road and (Naismith) ran off the roadway, striking two power poles at Allison Street and North Main Street. The vehicle continued south, sideswiping a brick retaining wall at Croley Funeral Home and came to rest at Gregg Street and North Main,” he said.

Alexander said Naismith was deceased upon officers’ arrival.

Naismith was wearing a seatbelt and alcohol was observed in the vehicle but it is unknown at this time if alcohol contributed to the crash, which remains under investigation.
