GILMER — A jury was chosen today in 115th District Court for the murder trial of Glenn Wade Myers Jr., and testimony is scheduled to open next Monday.

Myers, 55, of Big Sandy, is charged with shooting his 52-year-old sister, Cindy Espinoza, July 2 at her rural Upshur County home. Upshur County District Attorney Billy Byrd said in a news release Monday the trial is expected to last up to three days.

An autopsy showed Espinoza, whose home in the 1900 block of Nutmeg Road had a Big Sandy address, died from a gunshot wound to the head, said Upshur County Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Lyle Potter.

Myers is confined in Upshur County Jail in Gilmer under $350,000 bond on the murder charge, and $6,000 bond on a driving while intoxicated charge from Wood County, according to Byrd's office.

Former Upshur County District Attorney Tim Cone, now in private law practice near Gilmer, is Myers' court-appointed attorney. Lauren Parish, 115th district judge, will preside in the case.
