Prelim TAKS Scores Show TISD Closing Achievement Gap
Preliminary TAKS scores for Tyler ISD show the district is closing the achievement gap on standardized tests.

TISD saw the greatest gains in math and science with gains in social studies and a decline in English Language Arts, according to a district news release. The results are for the district as a whole at this point and not individual schools.

In 10th grade math, there was an eight percentage point increase in the number of students who met the standard, according to a news release from the district.

In the 11th grade science, there was a six percentage point increase in the number of students who met the standard.

Results from the state's new standardized test, the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness, will not be released until later this month. That test is being phased in so only this year's freshmen or eighth-graders taking high school-level courses took that test.
