Derailed Train Cleared In Downtown Mineola
As of Saturday night, the train cars had been removed from the tracks, opening up U.S. Highway 69. Officials continue to work the scene.

Two cars on a Union Pacific train jumped the tracks in downtown Mineola earlier this evening, causing blockage to three main roadways.

Steve Finley of the Mineola Fire Department said no one was hurt and no cars derailed were tipped over. The only serious concern is the blocked roadways.

The cause is yet to be determined, but train derailments are not uncommon, Finley said. However, officials do not suspect mischievous activity to be involved.

The safest route until the problem is resolved is East Loop 564.
