Laney's Release Is A Miscarriage Of Justice, May 30
In 2004 I served as a juror on Deanna Laney's trial. Her release represents a gross miscarriage of justice.
I believe that Judge Cynthia Kent, the District Attorney and staff, and I know that we the jurors were all of the opinion that Laney would spend the majority of her remaining life in a state hospital.
The doctors who testified that Ms. Laney was no longer mentally ill didn't sit in that court room and listen to witnesses testify as to her erratic behavior. They didn't hear her detailed plans as she prepared to stone her children to death. Nor do they have to deal the nightmare this woman created in so many lives, including mine.
