Group Gives Defibrillators, Scholarships In East Texas
The St. Paul Children’s Foundation is the recipient of two heart defibrillators, courtesy of the Kyle Lake Foundation of Tyler, Texas.
The defibrillators were presented to the St. Paul Children’s Foundation oduring the Kyle Lake Memorial Golf Tournament held erarlier this month. Receiving the life-saving instruments on behalf of the St. Paul Children’s Foundation were Dr. Danny Price and Dr. Rachel Nichols, pediatricians at the St. Paul Children’s Clinic in Tyler.

According to the American Heart Association, 450,000 adults and 7,000 children lose their lives each year from cardiac arrest.
The Kyle Lake Foundation exists to equip Christians to make the presence and message of Christ in an ever-changing world. The Foundation was established in March 2007 in memory of the former pastor of University Baptist Church in Waco.
Lake died in 2005 as the result of electrocution while preparing to baptize a former Baylor University student before 800 worshippers. Volunteers and donors work faithfully to honor Kyle’s memory by continuing the focus of his ministry.

Scholarships
Deanna Sims, board member and chairperson of the Kyle Lake Foundation Scholarship Committee, announced that three student recipients have been selected by the to receive Foundation scholarships.
Those receiving $2,500 scholarships are Eddie Esparza, Allie Telscher and Austin Langemeier.
Eduardo “Eddie” Esparza is the son of Sacramento and Margarita Esparza. He has excelled in both academics and soccer at Robert E. Lee High School as a three-year letterman.
Esparza was the president of Leadership East Texas as well as a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta. In his spare time, he has volunteered at soccer camps as well as the East Texas Food Bank.
He also enjoys playing soccer with friends and listening to music. Esparza plans to attend the University of Texas at Austin and major in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
Allie Telscher is the daughter of Mark and Karrie Telscher. She has been on the Robert E. Lee High School girls varsity soccer team for four years, serving as captain during the 2011-2012 school year.
She is a member of the National Honor Society, Leadership East Texas and the FCCLA Culinary Arts program at Lee. Telscher has been a member of Pollard United Methodist Youth Group and has volunteered for programs such as Meals on Wheels, PATH and Vacation Bible School. She plans to attend Texas A&M University and major in Business and Communications.
Austin Langemeier is the son of Craig and Carrie Langemeier. He has been active in The Brook Hill School athletic program, playing football, track, basketball and other sports.
Langmeier has spent many hours volunteering at Pine Cove Christian Camps as well as serving in other community service programs. He enjoys hunting, photography, and writing and producing songs. Langmeier plans to attend Wheaton College in Illinois.
According to David Lake, president of the Kyle Lake Foundation, the total number of scholarships awarded by and through the Foundation since the fall of 2009 to date is 34.
These scholarships, ranging from $500 to $2,500 each, and are awarded to students who have exhibited and demonstrated excellence in character, Christian commitment, academic learning and community service. The Foundation also is a participating sponsor in the KTBB Annual Scholastic All-Stars.
