TJC Opens Enrollment To Lon Morris Students
Tyler Junior College is reaching out to Lon Morris College students after their campus announced the cancellation of summer sessions.

TJC will send a registration team to Jacksonville to help Lon Morris students register for core curriculum classes through TJC while they await word on the restoration of Lon Morris classes, according to a news release from TJC.

Core curriculum courses are basic courses designed to transfer to other state-assisted colleges and universities, according to the news release.

In addition, TJC will offer discounted, on-campus housing at its main campus for students requiring a residence hall during their studies.

Lon Morris announced Wednesday the furlough of most of its employees and the cancellation of its on-campus summer courses as it seeks to reorganize and remain viable for the future.

TJC President Dr. Mike Metke said the college wants to help ensure that Lon Morris students have the opportunity to continue on a smooth pathway toward their educational goals.

"We know these students will wish to continue at Lon Morris when classes resume, but extending our summer classes to them will help them stay on track," Metke said, according to the news release.

TJC representatives from residential life, the registrar's office and financial aid will be available in Jacksonville to assist Lon Morris students from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday.

Lon Morris students should come to the TJC-Jacksonville site on the fourth floor of East Texas Medical Center, 501 S. Ragsdale St., in Jacksonville.

Students are asked to bring their Lon Morris identification card and a current printed transcript, if available.

TJC Summer I term classes begin June 4. The Summer II term begins July 9.
