Readers Offer Endorsements In GOP Primary, May 25
I would like to take this opportunity to publically endorse Larry R. Smith for Smith County sheriff. My family has personally known the Smith family for over 15 years. During this time we have been neighbors and friends. Our children have grown up together and I’ve had the privilege of witnessing up close the character and heart of Larry as his family and career have evolved over the years.
Because of this relationship, I know the moral fiber this man is made of. Larry is a man of integrity. I have seen this as he has worked for the government, doing his job faithfully, without complaint, and with a loyalty that is uncommon. This loyalty carries over to his family as Larry supported his wife, Leslie, when she returned to school to obtain a second degree: nursing. This was a harried time as the children were young, but in typical Larry style, he never wavered in his provision to make certain Leslie was able to achieve her goal. He is a family man with true grit and determination to lead at all times, without compromising his morals and godly beliefs.
I know that Larry will lead Smith County in the same manner he leads his family — unselfishly, devoutly, judiciously, boldly, and without pride or arrogance. I could go on about Larry’s work experience, which is unmatched, but you can see that for yourself on his website. What I want to convey is that behind the years of law enforcement experience stands a man that will make you proud to live in Smith County.
