In the past, I worked several years as a reserve deputy with the Smith County Sheriff’s Department and I know how very important the reserve force is to the county. Reserve officers are licensed peace officers in the state of Texas that give their time because of their passion for law enforcement.
Larry Smith’s plan to utilize these volunteer men and women to work side by side with deputies will serve many roles in the county including providing more law enforcement coverage and reducing response time to citizen calls while saving tax dollars.
