Smith County Films Voting Machine Practice Video
Smith County produced a short video to address possible voter confusion with its electronic voting machines.

The brief video tutorial is available on the county's Facebook page. The Elections Department also has set up a “practice” machine to familiarize voters with the machines before they cast ballots.

Smith County spokeswoman Adrienne Graham said officials want to make the voting experience as comfortable and easy as possible for every voter. Technology is constantly changing, she said. Electronic voting machines are faster, easier and more efficient for calculating votes, but can present challenges to voters, she said.

The online video demonstration takes voters through the process step-by-step process with the iVotronic machines used in all Smith County elections.

An iVotronic practice machine is also available to the public for practice through May 29. The machine is at the Elections Office, Smith County Courthouse Annex, fifth floor, 200 E. Ferguson, Tyler. For more information, contact the Smith County Elections Office at 903-590-4774.

Elections Director Karen Nelson said the video and practice machine is a good opportunity to familiarize voters with the process.

“Anything that will assist the voters, I am all for it,” she said.
