Illegal Gambling Ring Bust Nets 6 Arrests; 1 Sought
Wood County Sheriff’s deputies are asking for the public’s help in locating a woman accused of being involved in an illegal gambling ring operating in East Texas.

Six people have been arrested and more than 80 gambling machines seized from two businesses in the county, according to the release. One person remains on the loose, the release reads.

All seven suspects are charged with engaging in organized criminal activity, which is a state jail felony, according to the release.

For operating gambling machines at Debbie’s Dream Game Room on Farm-to-Market Road 17 in Alba, James Paul Joseph III, 55, of West Tawakoni; Robert Logan Boyd Jr., 43, of Quitman; and James Troy Cotton Jr., 21, of Sulphur Springs, had warrants issued for their arrests. All three suspects turned themselves in to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, according to the release.

The second location, Lucky Star on the corner of Farm-to-Market Road 515 and County Road 4990, was allegedly operated by Karlyn Donnell Bellow, 22, of Yantis; George Allen Eason, 66, of Rockwall; and Angela Lanel, 33, of Quinlan, the release reads. Ms. Bellow was arrested at her home and Eason turned himself over to authorities, according to the release.

Ms. Lanel is still at large, and authorities are asking anyone with information about her whereabouts to contact the Wood County Sheriff’s Office.

Another person, believed to be the owner of a third business involved in the raid, also is facing a charge of gambling promotion, according to Wood County records. Gambling promotion is a class A misdemeanor, according to the Texas Penal Code.

Bonds for each of the suspects were set at $5,000, according to the release.
