March Fatal Shooting Ruled Accidental
Tyler police have determined that James Caleb Stanley, 19, died in March of an accidental shooting and not foul play.

Stanley and his girlfriend, Brittney Mizzles, were involved in an argument on march 6 and Ms. Mizzles had thrown a clothesbasket at Stanley inside their residence that had a .22 caliber revolver handgun lying between some clothes in the basket.

“The gun discharged during the basket being thrown, striking Stanley in the abdomen. The gun was sent off to be tested and the results indicated that the gun has safety malfunctions that would allow a cartridge to be fired without the trigger being pulled,” a statement said.

Ms. Mizzles was charged with filing a false report to police, because she told officers Stanley had been shot outside.

Justin A. Fasulo, 19, and Kavan J. Farrer, 19, were both charged with tampering with physical evidence because police say they had taken the gun and attempted to hide it.

Ms. Mizzles and Farrer have both been released from jail while records indicate Friday morning Fasulo remained jailed on a $10,000 bond.
