Woman Killed, Man Critically Injured In Morning Crash
A fiery car crash this morning claimed the life of a Palestine woman and left a 32-year-old man critically injured.
Palestine Police Department Sgt. James Muniz said Palestine firefighters responded to a reported car fire in the 2000 block of North Link Street.
Firefighters quickly determined that the fire was due to an accident. Fire requested an ambulance after finding two people in the wooded area near the car.
Muniz said officers responded and determined the car was traveling at a speed that caused it to cross over into the north bound lane, leave the roadway on the east side before striking a light pole and several trees.
Both of the vehicle’s occupants were ejected from the wreckage and police said it appeared that the vehicle rolled over and ejected both occupants.
Amberly Diane Nix, 24, was transported to Palestine Regional Medical Center where she died of her injuries.
Rock Allen Conner was transported by air to East Texas Medical Center in Tyler where he is listed in critical condition.
Muniz said the accident is still under investigation at this time.
