UPDATE: Crews Extinguish Structure Fire On County Road 38

Fire crews from three Smith County departments have extinguished a structure fire that broke out on County Road 38, just north of Tyler Monday afternoon.
Tim Thompson, the Red Springs Volunteer Fire Department chief, said his crew and firefighters from Lindale and Dixie were called to the 200 block of County Road 38 around 4 p.m.
The homeowner was at the residence when the fire started in the kitchen, Thompson said. He'd apparently been cooking and thought he'd turned off the stove, the chief said.
No injuries were reported and the home suffered heavy smoke and heat damage but was not a complete loss, Thompson said.
