Lightning Strikes Oil Tank, Texas 31 Shut Down
Texas Highway 31 West is back open to traffic after a lightning strike prompted officials to shut down the highway earlier tonight.

Major Botie Hillhouse, with the Henderson County Sheriff's Office, said lightning struck an oil tank on the side of the road about 9 p.m. at Farm-to-Market Road 1803 South and Texas Highway 31. He said fire officials were then called after it looked like a second tank on the other side of the road was going to explode.

As of 9:45 p.m., officials had “just about got all the flames out,” and the situation was under control. One lane of traffic is now open.
