Master Gardeners Receive Honors
At the recent Texas Master Gardener Conference, the Smith County Master Gardener Association received eight awards from their peers for their outstanding volunteer and educational programming.
The honors include:
-- 1st Place Education – “Our Secret Garden” (interactive youth exhibit at the East Texas State Fair);
--1st Place Project - “Home Garden Tour”;
--1st Place Mass Media – Publicity for 1st Tuesday in the Garden education series;
-- 1st Place Graphics – “IDEA Garden Ideas” (PowerPoint slide set on the IDEA Garden);
-- 2nd Place Newsletter – “MG Grapevine”;
--2nd Place Publication - “Home Garden Tour Guide Book”;
--2nd Place Individual Master Gardener – Pat Welch of Flint;
