Troup ISD Gala Honors Employees For Their Dedication
Troup ISD employees were recognized for their hard work and dedication Saturday as part of the district’s first recognition gala.

During the event, which took place at the Tyler Area Senior Citizens Association Activity Center in Whitehouse, all employees, as well as retired teachers, enjoyed a buffet catered by Traditions Restaurant followed by the presentation of service pins and recognition awards.

The Lifetime Achievement Award went to Oma and Ruth Cole, Administrator of the Year went to Troup High School Principal David Smith, High School/District Teacher of the Year, sponsored by the Troup Women’s Civic Organization, went to Karyn Ard, Middle School Teacher of the Year, sponsored by the Troup Rotary Club, went to Terrell Knight, and Elementary School Teacher of the Year, sponsored by the Troup Elementary Parent Teacher Organization, went to Jan Singletary.

Other awards were Alanna Mehlenbacher for Rookie of the Year, Teresa Waggoner for Paraprofessional of the Year, and Rachel Carrizales for Auxiliary Employee of the Year.

Inspirational Leaders of the Year were Tanye Byrd at Troup High School, Kitty Badger at Troup Middle School, Kimberly Knighton at Troup Elementary School, the Bright Ideas Award went to Melanie Johnson, Stephanie King, Katina Mauldin, Johnny Knowles, and Pam Starkey, and Friends of Education were Betty McEver, Joe Ballard, Jim and Tammy Tollett, Duane Dougherty, Tommy and Heather Derrick, Kathy Garrett, Joe Paul McElroy, Cindy Steele and Georgia Youngs.
