Elderly woman hit by car dies from injuries
LONGVIEW – A Longview woman struck by a vehicle as she crossed the road last month has died as a result of her injuries.
Longview police said that 86-year old Mary Ruth Burgess Neal died Friday at Good Shepherd Hospital where she had been under care since the accident on April 27 and the intersection of West Loop 281 and Gilmer Road.
Officers were told at the scene that a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Charles Patrick McClain, of Longview, was traveling south on Gilmer Road. McClain stated he did not see the victim, crossing the roadway.
No charges have been filed against McClain.
