Playground Program Kicking Off June 5
Tyler Parks and Recreation’s Summer Playground Program kicks off June 5 and runs through Aug. 10 to provide nourishing meals and activities for children ages 6 to 12.

Since the program was born in the 1950s, thousands of Tyler children have participated in the fun-filled summer event that includes lunch, sports, arts and crafts, games, special events and contests.

Tyler’s Playground Program is offered from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at these locations: City Park, Emmett Scott Park, P.T. Cole Park and Pollard Park. Participation at the parks is free, and there is no limit on attendance. Breakfast and lunch are provided.

At Glass Recreation Center, 501 W. 32 St., participation is limited to 40 children and there is a one-time payment of $30 required to attend. Services are planned from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Breakfast and lunch are provided.
