Dykes Urges Support For Leppert For Senate, May 4
Tom Leppert is the man Texans should send to Washington to represent us in the Senate. We are privileged to have a man running for public office who models such godly leadership, moral character, and a tireless work ethic.
Tom is a retired businessman and formerly served as the mayor of Dallas. He has had tremendous success in both the private sector and as a servant in public office. The most important reason why I personally support Tom is because he is a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, and his faith leads him to be a tremendous servant leader in his community.
Tom grew up in a blue-collar neighborhood, raised by a single mother. A hard worker, Tom paid his way through junior college by washing dishes until he received a scholarship offer at a prestigious college.

He went on to become a successful business leader, creating thousands of jobs. As mayor, Tom understood his role was to better the lives of Dallas residents. Facing high crime rates, Tom fought for hiring new police officers in efforts to make Dallas a safer place to live and work. He pursued tough ethics reforms that restored accountability in local government.
His faith was evident as he carried out his duties as mayor. His first official act was to reinstate prayer before every City Council meeting. Tom’s faith has formed him into a man of steadfast conviction, uncompromising on his values.
While I don’t believe churches should endorse candidates, I am perfectly comfortable supporting candidates as an individual. I continue to publically support U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert and I have endorsed other local elected officials. I was among the pastors supporting President Bush in his election. Tom Leppert has my unwavering support because he is a Christian leader who will bring moral, competent leadership to Washington.
