Wood County Man Sentenced To Life After Fourth Offense
A three-strike criminal in Wood County will spend life in jail after being convicted on a fourth offense Wednesday.

A jury in the 402nd Judicial District Court of Wood County convicted Perry Wayne Jerden, 44, of Hawkins, of indecency with a child, sexual contact. Jerden spent time in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice on three previous occasions for felony offenses, according to a statement issued by Wood County District Attorney Jim Wheeler.

Neither Wheeler nor Assistant District Attorney Angela Converse were available for comment on the case Wednesday afternoon.

Jerden's arrest history on the Wood County Sheriff's website shows numerous arrests beginning in 1990. His previous offenses include assault causing bodily injury, unlawful carrying of a weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, arson and assault with a deadly weapon.
