Assault Escalates, Ends With Teen Hit By Vehicle At Lake Tyler Marina
An assault at the Lake Tyler Marina escalated and ended with a vehicle hitting a bystander Wednesday evening.

A 19-year-old Flint resident told authorities he was sitting in his truck at the marina near Concession Road when another man approached him and began "antagonizing" him, according to a news release issued by the Tyler Police Department.

The instigator, whose name was not released, left the scene of the argument and came back with another person and the original suspect began assaulting the teen, the release reads. The teen attempted to drive away from the scene and while doing so, struck a 16-year-old boy who was riding his bicycle nearby, according to the release.

The teen drove a short distance away and called 911 to report the incident, according to the release. The cyclist was taken by a private vehicle to an area hospital, the release reads.

While the Flint resident was stopped and reporting the incident, the brother of the cyclist arrived on scene and "not knowing (he) had been assaulted earlier, punched (his) pick-up window and shattered it," according to the release.

The incident remains under investigation.
