Odom Grandmother Becomes Victim of Identity Theft
Two suspects in the theft and forgery of checks from a grandmother are facing charges, and the search continued for others involved in the incident.
Van Zandt County Precinct 2 Constable C.B. Wiley said on March 19, an 88-year-old Odom woman, who uses a wheelchair, reported the theft of her driver’s license, Social Security card, a checkbook and jewelry.
He said more than 21 checks were forged at a cost of more than $2,000 in three counties.

Lacey Nicole Duncan, 19, of Gun Barrel City, was in custody at the Henderson County Jail for check forgery and theft from an elder person, Wiley said. Kimberly Dawn McAllister, 44, of Seven Points, also is charged with forgery for attempting to cash one of the stolen checks, he said.
Wiley said Ms. Duncan also is facing charges in four outstanding forgery cases filed against her by the Mabank Police Department.

Authorities currently are seeking information on the whereabouts of Jason Scott Duncan, Ms. Duncan’s father, who also is charged with forgery for the use of the stolen checks, he said.
Ms. Duncan and another man allegedly entered the victim’s home on March 19 under the pretext of needing to use her bathroom and selling cookie dough for a Mabank school fundraiser, he said. The victim let them enter the home and that’s when the theft occurred, Wiley said.

The constable said several other arrests and charges are pending in the case based on surveillance video from stores in Kaufman, Seven Points, Mabank, Gun Barrel City, Athens and other places.
