Tyler Neighborhood Targeted In Burglary Spree
By KENNETH DEAN

Burglars targeting a Tyler neighborhood have left a wake of victims and have residents worried about their security.

Tyler Police Spokesman Don Martin said there have been multiple burglaries in area from Loop 323 to 6th Street and South Broadway to Troup Highway.

In most of the cases the suspects have gained entry into the homes by kicking in a side or rear door.

One woman, who asked to remain anonymous out of fear of retaliation, said she was walking down the street on Monday in the 1100 block of Watkins when she heard two loud noises then saw two Hispanic men in their late teens or early 20s carrying a television and other items.

The two men dropped the items and ran, but she said she was able to get a look at their vehicle, which she said was an older model tan or gold minivan.

Over the past month burglars have stolen thousands of dollars in property including electronics, currency, jewelry, firearms and have damaged many homes by forcing their way into the home.

Martin said residents should keep their doors locked and mark all of their property and write serial numbers down to assist in recovering items if stolen.
