A Great Volunteer, April 22
ROSES: Roses to Dan Benson from the Tyler Chamber of Commerce who gave new meaning to the old saying, “A friend in need is a friend indeed.” Mr. Benson volunteered to fill in on his day off to be the tour guide for the Hampton’s Retirement Center’s bus tour of the azalea trail when the appointed tour-guide had a family emergency.

Roses to Monica Tynes, the Hampton’s activities director, who has the difficult task of keeping the residents active and entertained. Had planned a bus tour of the azalea district on the second weekend of the tour and was dismayed when the guide had a family emergency and had to go home. She called upon a long-time friend and former co-worker at the chamber who very graciously agreed to fill in.

Mr. Benson’s knowledge of Tyler history and facts about the azalea trail along with the expertise of long-time bus driver, John Young, made for a very interesting and exceptional tour of the beautiful homes, lawns and gardens of the Tyler Azalea trail.
Good job, Monica.
