Problem Streets, April 22
RANTS: Some brave gentleman last week complained about our streets being compared to third world country conditions. I’m sorry, I forgot to keep that issue and give him credit, but credit is certainly due. He is a brave fellow and I couldn’t agree with him more! I have called the city at least six times over the last year about many really bad places on our streets. I get no response until recently when I requested to speak with the “boss.”

Anyway, the boss did call me back and said he would personally inspect the locations that I reported and call me back by the next Wednesday, which would have been March 21, 2012.

I’m still waiting for that call as of April 7. There is a street over by Old Henderson Highway, 2100 E. Earle, that is an absolute abomination. I have to travel that road about four to seven times per week and down on the east end it has more holes than it has pavement.

I called in to report the specific locations and they never even show that I have ever called; no records of it whatsoever. Now that’s my sky-high taxes at work!

I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I’ve had to have my car realigned because of all the holes or sloppy, halfway repaired streets where I have to travel daily. Some of the stuff they call “repair” doesn’t even last two weeks before it’s back to its former condition or worse!

These are all ridiculous examples of our city street department. The one mentioned above, 2100 E. Earle, Golden Road at Troup Highway, Golden Road at McDonald Road, Golden Road at Paluxy Drive, Golden Road at Fifth Street and so many more.

They either need a new leader or new people to conduct the “repairs,” or both.
