Dual Track Education, April 22
Adam Russell’s recent article on dual-track education addressed a major concern for the students of this state. If the students I teach and keep up with in the band program here at Llano High School are any indication of the rest of the state, we are not preparing this generation for a successful future. Yes, 40 percent will go on to college and many will be on their way to a successful future.
But many of our students are drowning in the big pool of academic requirements for graduation, plus the constant testing or prep for testing. They will soon be joining many of their friends who have already dropped out of school.
We must face this problem and work together to help our students. The dual track system will work and must be considered to help save these kids.
