Smith County Growth Meeting Set For Monday
State and community leaders will meet Monday to discuss population trends and the economic impact of retirees to the Smith County area.

A special meeting with members of the Industry Growth Initiative (IGI) and the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce Senior Resources Committee and Board of Directors will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at The University of Texas at Tyler Ornelas Activity Center, 3402 Old Omen Road.

During the retiree presentation, Tyler Mayor Barbara Bass will give an Industry Growth Initiative update and Jesse Acosta, associate vice president for administration at The University of Texas at Tyler and the retiree champion for IGI, is set to present a retiree block overview.

Dr. Lila Valencia, from the office of the state demographer, will talk about population trends for Smith County and Tyler while Dr. JoJo Estrada, of the Texas Comptroller’s Office, will give an economic analysis of retiree impact on the area.
