Tatum Women Facing Felony Theft Charges
Two Tatum women were arrested earlier this week for stealing scrap metal.
About 5 p.m. Monday, Rusk County Sheriff's deputies Jonathan Medford and Cody Runnels were dispatched to Farm-to-Market Road 782 in reference to a theft in progress.
While deputies were traveling to the scene, a witness contacted the land owner and reported that two individuals were loading his scrap metal onto a truck on his property, according to a news release.

The individuals had an old refrigerator along with other scrap metal in the bed of their truck, which belonged to the land owner, the release states. The land owner arrived on scene before the two could take off.
When Medford got to the scene, he arrested Aimee Rachele Burdeshaw, 27, and Danielle Marie Burdeshaw, 25, both of Tatum, on charges of theft. Deputy Medford also discovered marijuana at the scene, according to a news release. Both women were escorted to the Rusk County Justice Center.
On Tuesday, Precinct 5 Justice of the Peace Judge Joe Sorrells charged the women with theft of aluminum/bronze/copper, a state jail felony. Their bond was set at $5,000 for the theft charge. Aimme Rachele Burdeshaw had an additional charge of possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor, with a bond of $1,000.
