South Tyler Rotary Foundation Prepares Supper Fundraiser
The South Tyler Rotary Foundation will have its 20th Annual Spaghetti Supper fundraiser 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the Fellowship Hall of First Christian Church, 4202 S. Broadway Ave.

The meal includes spaghetti, tossed salad, garlic bread, dessert and a beverage, said information from organizers. The cost is $10.

Sponsorships for $100 are also available.

Sponsors will have their name on the placemat, be recognized in publicity material and receive 10 tickets. Contact Steven Horlander at Kilgore National Bank, 903-509-3600, to purchase a sponsorship or send a check made out to South Tyler Rotary Foundation, P.O. Box 7153, Tyler, TX 75711.

The goal is to raise $25,000, said South Tyler Rotary Club President Jacque Fowler. She said President-Elect Steve Horlander has promised to shave his head in public if the club achieves the goal.

Half of the funds raised each year are applied to programs and services and the remainder is held by the South Tyler Rotary’s Foundation for future endeavors, Fowler said.

Because of funding from last year’s Spaghetti Supper, South Tyler Rotary was able to donate to 11 local nonprofits, three international projects involving clean water, education and Mercy Ships and two scholarships, she said.

South Tyler Rotary also partnered with the other two Rotary clubs in Smith County to purchase smoke alarms for those unable to afford them in conjunction with the Tyler Fire Department, she said.

Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders who provide humanitarian service and help to build goodwill and peace.
