Rusk County Constable, Wife Arrested
A Rusk County constable and his wife have been arrested on federal charges, according to a news release issued by Rusk County Sheriff's Office.

Precinct 2 Constable Benjamin Thomas Ferrell, 36, of Tatum, was arrested at 10 a.m. by FBI agents from Dallas, the release reads. Ferrell is facing charges for "conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute Phentermine, Hydrocodone, Hydromorphone, Marihuana, and selling firearms to prohibited persons," according to the release.

Ferrell's wife, Amanda Gayle Ferrell, 32, of Henderson, was arrested at her home on County Road 2127 and is charged with two counts of manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, which is a state jail felony, the release reads.

Amanda is in custody at the Rusk County Jail on a $10,000 bond, Rusk County spokeswoman Viki Penny said. Benjamin was in custody at the Smith County Jail, though jail records show he was released at 2:01 p.m., about two hours after being booked in.

A news conference is planned for 6 p.m. at the sheriff's office, Ms. Penny said and Chief Deputy Ron Duncan will release additional information about the investigation and arrests then.
