Man Claims He Was Shot While Being Good Samaritan
A man is claiming that he was shot during a scuffle this afternoon in Rusk County, according to a news release.

Information from Rusk County District Attorney Investigator William Brown indicates that about 3 p.m., the man pulled off the side of the road in front of the Henderson Animal Shelter on U.S. Highway 259 South, claiming he was in an altercation with a man who was chasing a woman.

According to a news release, the man claims he tried to intervene and was shot during the scuffle. The victim was transported to the hospital.

“At this time, we are not sure where the shooting itself actually happened,” officials said in a news release. “The man drove himself to the animal shelter after the altercation.”

Updates will follow from the Rusk County Sheriff's Office as they become available.
