Confusion, Feb. 26
Surely, I am not the only one who is confused by our upside down world today, but here are just a few things I don’t understand.
Our country is heavily in debt to China and other countries, and our government officials do not seem to understand what every family in America knows — when we don’t have money or are heavily in debt, we know it is time to cut expenses.
We also know that we must continue our support for our elderly relatives and our children, but our government officials seem to feel they must cut support for the elderly and for our military sons and daughters. They never seem to look at the wasteful and unnecessary expenses they endorse and continue each year or for all of the money spent on illegal immigrants.
In the meantime, our presidential candidates, including our president and all of the Super-PAC backers, are spending millions of dollars on campaigns. That makes me sick when our country is drowning in debt. When I was young, we always heard that anyone in the U.S. can become president, but that is obviously no longer true. Now any candidate for any elected office, especially for president must be extremely wealthy and have friends of equal or greater wealth.
Our military men and women are risking their lives every day to keep us safe and free, but for some reason our country can manage a ticker tape parade for Super Bowl winners but not for those heroes who fought in Iraq.
I just don’t understand. Do you?
