Metoyer is taking two classes this summer in an effort to boost his grade point average and be able to move to Norman, Okla., next month.
David Metoyer said by text message the two classes are Trey’s final step to qualify for OU, and he expects his son to move to Norman next month.
TJC football coach Danny Palmer said while he is enrolled, Trey Metoyer is working out at the Apaches’ facilities. Palmer also said he expects Metoyer to be at OU soon after his classes are completed.

“It really looks like he’s going to be at Oklahoma because he’s doing real well in the two classes he’s in,” Palmer said. “He’s paying his own way, and he’s a student so he can use the facilities. It looks like it’s going to work out for Oklahoma, and we really hope it does.”
Palmer confirmed that Metoyer has not signed with TJC or any other junior college. In the event Metoyer needs to spend a year at a junior college before going Division I, TJC is a likely destination for Metoyer to play football this fall.
“I guess we’ll have to wait and see if that happens,” Palmer said. “He’s a great kid to be around. But I very well expect him to be at OU.”
