2011 Komen Race Raised $286,000
The Tyler Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure announced today that this year’s race raised $286,000.

“We are so grateful for the support of this community. The continued success of the Race would not be possible with the sponsors, participants and our wonderful volunteers. By working together we are making a difference,” Co-Chairmen Jayme Fitzpatrick and Kelli Fitzpatrick Armstrong said in a joint statement.

The race held at Bergfeld Park on May 7 attracted more than 5,600 runners and walkers, organizers said.

Additionally The Power of 10 Pledge Program, in which people donated on behalf of participants, raised a record $57,487.

Seventy-five percent of the net proceeds will stay in Smith County for local grants. The remaining 25 percent is used to fund the Susan G. Komen for the Cure National Research Grants Program.

The 2012 Komen Tyler Race is scheduled for May 12, 2012, at Bergfeld Park.
