Inspirational Speaker Shares Her Miraculous Experience
Tyler resident Patti Foster experienced what she can only describe as a miracle.
Nearly nine years ago, she was severely injured in a horrific car accident. On her way to a Bible study, Foster's vehicle was hit by a semi-truck pulling a trailer full of cars. She was ejected from the back window of her vehicle, resulting in severe head trauma and lay in a coma for six weeks. Foster said witnesses eventually told her her body was unrecognizable after the accident.
And yet, despite such a traumatic accident and having to learn how to breathe, walk and even chew all over again, Foster has made a remarkable recovery.
Her story is included in "Modern-Day Miracles: 50 True Stories of Divine Encounters, Supernatural Healing, Heaven and Hell Experiences and More."
Author Allison Restagno collected the stories of 50 people from around the world as they recounted their miraculous encounters and experiences in life. Foster was chosen to be one of those contributors, writing about her miraculous recovery.
"(Restagno's) gist in doing this was to inspire people and give them hope," Foster said of the book. "In these turbulent times, it gives that motivation to keep going and not give up. And that's my heartbeat, especially after a traumatic brain injury and everything that I've gone through."
Foster said she hopes her chapter in particular will help bring those in need some much needed encouragement.
"With the way our economy is and world is, (people) have that need to have something to hold on to," she said.
Foster is a former radio personality who now shares her experiences as an inspirational speaker.
