Public To Meet Texas Rose Festival Queen Today
The public is invited to meet Rose Queen Mary-Lawson Bracken Walden and her court in their full coronation costumes during the Queen's Tea, called “The Rose Garden Party,” to be held from 3 to 5 p.m. today at the Tyler Rose Garden, 420 Rose Park Drive, Tyler.

The annual event is open to the public, free of charge.

“The Rose Garden Party” is hosted by the queen's mother, Nancy Ann Bracken, and the Texas Rose Festival, represented by President Christopher Shirley Simons, in honor of Queen Mary-Lawson and her court as part of the celebration of the 77th Texas Rose Festival.

For the second consecutive year, many of the out-of-town duchesses will be on display in full costume and available to meet the public during the party. These duchesses will be seated at the Rose Show display, inside the Rose Garden Center.

The queen's Rose Garden Party is a grand celebration of the Texas Rose Festival and Tyler with this year's theme, “Tyler, Tapestry of Blessings,” setting the stage.
The Tyler court, ladies in waiting, the duchess of the Texas Rose Festival and the queen's royal attendants will be in their lavish costumes, seated traditionally in tents on the Queen's Lawn of the Rose Garden.

A very special guest will also be in attendance — Queen Mary-Lawson's horse Caleb.

The Garden Party will offer guests a first-time, in-person opportunity to view the collection of this year's Rose Festival costumes.

Food Stations: Guests can refresh themselves at two fanciful refreshment tables at the center of the lawn, decorated with hundreds of ribbons and jewels.

Special Invitation: By special invitation, the second grade girls from the city of Tyler are asked by Queen Mary-Lawson to assist in offering candy tied in taffeta pouches to all guests attending the garden affair. As an act of community service, 10 selected senior boys will assist with the refreshments.
