Ladies In Waiting Will Take Part In Texas Rose Festival Coronation Oct. 15

Thirteen young women will take part in the coronation of Rose Queen Mary-Lawson Bracken Walden during the 2010 Texas Rose Festival, scheduled for Oct. 14-16 in Tyler. Members of the Tyler Court are introduced below as a prelude to the festival:
Rose Queen Mary-Lawson Bracken Walden, daughter of Nancy Ann Bracken and L.W. Walden, graduated from Robert E. Lee High School, where she was a cheerleader for three years. She attended the Southern Methodist University cheer camp and received the "All American Cheerleader Award" each year. She was a member of Young Republicans, Junior Symphony League and Young Life.
While attending REL, Miss Walden was an active community leader. She participated in The Race for the Cure, and getting help for elderly people in need of household assistance.
She helped with many REL activities such as Red Raider Rockin' Review, car wash fundraiser, REL calendar sales, and Tyler Junior College concession at games. Other community activity consisted of Walk a Mile for a Special Child, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Junior Achievement, Young Life Fundraiser, Invisible Children Fundraiser, Salvation Army Soup Kitchen, Hurricane Katrina Relief efforts, REL Student Senate and Ready Set Teach, serving as a teacher's aide to elementary teachers.
Miss Walden has participated in many past Rose Festivals. She served as a tea attendant, and she was train bearer to Queen Audrey Bell Mazzu in 2002. She was a dresser for her cousin, Molly Louise Berry in 2007, who was a queen's attendant to Queen Grace Hartley Ramey.
She is currently a sophomore at Texas Christian University, where she is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Society. She sings with the "Kappa Pickers." Her interest lies mostly in the field of art and music. She is a member of Green Acres Baptist Church, Tyler.

Duchess of the Texas Rose Festival Laura Stacy Ramey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Boyd Ramey III, is a sophomore at The University of Texas at Austin, where she is a communications major and a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She is a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, where she was a member of the National Honor Society, and placed in the top 10 percent of her graduating class. She also was a junior cheerleader and a varsity cheerleader during 2006-2009.
Miss Ramey attended Young Life in high school and was on a work crew at Frontier Ranch in Colorado during the summers of 2008 and 2009. She attended Camp Mystic and served as counselor this summer 2010.
Miss Ramey attends Bethel Bible Church. Her maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. John Huth of Bradenton, Fla.

Abigail Kathleen Clarke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Brian Kirch Clarke, of Tyler, attends the University of Alabama, where she is majoring in education with a minor in marketing, and is a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She attended All Saints Episcopal High School until her junior year and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 2009.
Miss Clarke played on the girls varsity soccer team at All Saints Episcopal School for three years before her senior year at REL. She was a cheerleader and on the dance team at Spirit of Tyler for four years. Miss Clarke was a member of Junior Symphony League in 2008-2009 and also received the Windsor Distinguished Service award. She participated in Four is for One community service at All Saints Espiscopal School and volunteered her time at a local retirement home.
Family members who have participated in past Rose Festivals include her mother, Resa, who has served on the make-up and wardrobe committees backstage at the Coronation and on the Queen's Tea committee. Miss Clarke's father, Brian, is a member of the Order of the Rose, and they have hosted the Kick-Off Party for four years.

Claudia Lauren Bowen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Thomas Bowen, of Tyler, is a sophomore at The University of Oklahoma. Miss Bowen is majoring in interior design through the College of Architecture in Norman and will have the opportunity to study abroad in Spain and Italy next year. She is an active member of the Interior Design Student Association.
Miss Bowen is a member of Green Acres Baptist Church and a 2009 honor graduate of Robert E. Lee High School. She attended All Saints Episcopal School through her freshman year and participated in many activities during her high school years. An active student at both schools, she was a varsity cheerleader, a member of Heart 2 Heart choral group, winning state honors as a vocalist. She served on the All Saints Chapel Committee, Spirit Club and the Spanish Club. After transferring to Robert E. Lee, she continued involvement with the Select Choir-Choral, Spanish Club and National Honor Society.
Miss Bowen was honored to be recognized by The National Society of High School Scholars, The International Cambridge College Programme, The Congressional Student Leadership Conference and The National Student Leadership Conference. Locally, she was awarded The Windsor Community Service Award as a member of the Junior Symphony League.
Community volunteering has been important to Miss Bowen, as she has helped with The Susan G. Koman Race for the Cure, Coats for Kids, Tyler AIDS Services, Junior League of Tyler's "Spring Sweep" and The Arc of East Texas. She also served as a junior hostess at the Queen's Tea in 1998.
Volunteering at the Tyler Rose Museum became a part-time job that she held for two years during high school. Her mother, Letha Bowen, has served in many capacities within the Texas Rose Festival, including being a member of The Queen's Tea Committee, transportation chairman, Ladies' Luncheon chairman and party hostess at various festival events.

Last year, Miss Castagno attended the University of Kansas, where she was a member of the Chi Omega Lambda Chapter. She is also a member of the Junior Greek Council.
Miss Castagno is a 2009 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, where she was a member of the Spanish Club for two years, dance 2, 3 and 4 all four years, and on the Southern Belle Drill Team her junior year.
Miss Castagno was an active participant in community service work through high school. She volunteered as an Azalea Belle for the Tyler Chamber of Commerce in 2006 and was a member of the Junior Symphony League in 2008-2009. Miss Castagno also received the Windsor Distinguished Service Award.

Casey Ann Davis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert S. Davis of Tyler, is a sophomore at Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, where she is majoring in nursing. She is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.
Miss Davis is a 2009 graduate of All Saints Episcopal School, where she was a member and served as captain of the three-time State Champion varsity girls soccer team. During all four years of high school, she was named to the TAPPS State All Tournament Team, first team All State, first team All District, as well as East Texas Defender of the Year. During her junior year, she earned the District MVP Award. Miss Davis also played for the Dallas Texans Girls Soccer Club for four years. At All Saints, she was a member of the Spirit Club, Spanish Club, Culinary Club and Art Club.

Kaylan Elizabeth Hagan is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Ferguson and Mr. and Mrs. Mark Hagan, of Tyler. She is a sophomore at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, where she is majoring in advertising and public relations. Miss Hagan is on the Dean's List for the University with a 4.0 grade point average along with the Fulbright College of Arts & Sciences Dean's Honor Roll. At the University of Arkansas, Miss Hagan has participated in the Holcombe Living and Learning Community and is a member of Kappa Delta Sorority.
Miss Hagan is a 2009 graduate of All Saints Episcopal School, where she was a founding member of the Green Club, editor of the yearbook, secretary of the History Club, and president of the French Club. While at All Saints, Miss Hagan was also a member of National Honor Society and helped found and edit the Literary Magazine. She was a varsity cheerleader for four years and captain her senior year. Miss Hagan was voted NCA All American Cheerleader.
Miss Hagan also received the Outstanding Citizen Award as a senior and Citizenship Award as a sophomore. She volunteered for Make-A-Wish Foundation, achieving an award for working more than 300 hours. Maggi Anne Jones, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Jesse Jones, of Tyler, is a sophomore at The University of Texas at Tyler, where she is majoring in history. Last year, she was a member of the UT Tyler girls basketball intramural team, winning first place, and a spot for the Championship Tournament held in New Orleans. She also competed in intramural sand volleyball. Miss Jones is currently coaching at Grace Community School, where she is an assistant for the junior high volleyball teams, head basketball coach for the eighth grade girls and assisting both the junior varsity and varsity high school girls' basketball teams.
Miss Jones is a 2009 graduate of Grace Community High School, where she was a member of the National Honor Society for three years, "A" honor roll, received Academic Excellence, a Student Council representative for two years and a member of her school's Chapel Team. She also participated in numerous community service projects throughout her four years, including: Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Salvation Army, The Children's Advocacy Center, the East Texas Food Bank, and attended the ACSI Leadership council in Orlando, Fla. Miss Jones was a member of the Junior Symphony League, where she received the Windsor Distinguished Service Award, and Green Acres Baptist Church, where was active in the youth group.
Miss Jones played varsity basketball all four years and was chosen captain her senior year. She was selected second team All District, as well as first team All District for two years, named All-East Texas Basketball and selected as an Azalea Classic All-Star player. She played varsity volleyball for three years, serving as captain her senior year and selected first team All District. Miss Jones played cello in Grace Community's Varsity Orchestra, where she was first chair and president of the orchestra for two years, elected vice president and historian. She received superior ratings at state as a solo cellist all four years, The Varsity Orchestra Leading Note Award, Distinguished Musician's Honor Society, and the Students' Choice Award. Miss Jones received the State Scholar Athlete award, and selected Grace Community School Female Athlete of the Year, and the Lady Cougar of the Decade.
Miss Jones and her family have been involved with the Rose Festival for many years. She was a junior hostess at the Queen's Tea and played in a string quartet during the Queen's Tea for two years. Her mother, Holli Jones, was a member of the Coronation Committee, where she was responsible for the chorography for 10 years. Mrs. Jones also served on the Queen's Tea Committee last year. Miss Jones' older brother, Jesse, was an escort and her older sisters, Molli and Katie, were ladies in waiting.
Relatives include her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George R. Barron, of Tyler, the late Capt. and Mrs. Jesse M. Jones; and brother, Wade.

Andrea Brooke Lowden, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James E. Lowden, is a transferring sophomore to Full Sail University in Orlando, Fla., from Tyler Junior College, where she is majoring in entertainment business.
Miss Lowden is a 2009 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, where she was a member of the Southern Belle Drill Team and the Southern Belle Elite Dance Team. Her freshman year was spent studying in Los Angeles during pilot season as an actress. She had featured roles in Hannah Montana episodes, a Japanese R/R Band's music video, a Utah-based company's commercial, and was featured in the Nancy Drew Movie, where she earned her Screen Actors Guild card.
Miss Lowden participated in numerous plays and helped with summer camps at the Ivah Albright's Children's Theatre during her education.
Miss Lowden is a member of Green Acres Baptist Church, where she sang with the youth choir, served at the soup kitchen, and participated in numerous fundraisers with the youth department. She has done volunteer work at the East Texas Food Bank, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, American Heart Association, Junior League of Tyler's Mistletoe & Magic, and performed with Tyler Christian School of Dance at many churches in Tyler.
Miss Lowden, as a child, served as a junior hostess and runner for the Queen's Tea. Throughout her life, she has been a participant in the Rose Parade. Miss Lowden's family has contributed behind the scenes to the success of the parade for many years, dating back to the 1950s with her great uncle, Ray Huddleston, who was a grand marshal. In addition, Miss Lowden's sister, Beth, participated in the 2009 Rose Festival as a lady in waiting.

Holly Michelle Robertson is the daughter of Deborah and Greg Robertson, of Bullard, and the granddaughter of the late Pat and Fred Bosworth. She is a sophomore at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, where she is a major in history and education. Miss Robertson is on the National Dean's List of College Students at Texas Tech and has been nominated for the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Miss Robertson is also a member of the Delta Gamma Fraternity. She volunteers in Lubbock,for the Private School Interscholastic League and with Delta Gamma.
Miss Robertson is a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of Tyler and a 2009 graduate of Bishop T.K. Gorman High School, where she was on the Honor Roll for four years, a member of the National Honor Society, recipient of the Cum Laude Honors on the National Latin Examination and the President's Education Award for Outstanding Academic Excellence. Miss Robertson was also the co-captain of the Gorman softball team. While at T.K. Gorman, Miss Robertson was a volunteer for Hospice of East Texas, coordinator to the Stewart Regional Blood Center for her school, and attended Nazareth Farms in West Virginia to assist disadvantaged families in Dodderge County. She has worked with the St. Louis School and Children's Advocacy Center of Tyler. Miss Robertson was also a member of the Junior Symphony League, volunteering for the Tyler Women's Symphony League and the East Texas Symphony Orchestra, and received the Windsor Distinguished Service Award. She has also volunteered for the Texas Rose Festival, helping at the Queen's Tea, Summer Kick-Off Party and the hospitality suite for the out-of-town participants and their families. She also volunteers at the Tyler Rose Museum.
Miss Robertson's family has had a long relationship with The Texas Rose Festival. Her grandfather, Fred Bosworth was a member of the Strutters, Order of the Rose and the Queen's Coronation ushers for many years. Her grandmother, Pat Bosworth, was a dedicated worker with the Rose Show, Queen's Tea, and helped with dressing the ladies in waiting, along with several of the queens. Pat and Fred Bosworth were also involved with decorating the Rose Festival floats for many years. Her mother, Deborah Bosworth Robertson, was a Rose Festival lady in waiting, 1971; aunt, Carolyn Bosworth Fisk, lady in waiting, 1964; uncles, Ed Bosworth and Michael Bosworth, escorts. Michael and his wife, Susan Bosworth, also have hosted many of the Rose Festival events. Since moving back to Tyler in 2003, both of her parents have volunteered actively for the Texas Rose Festival, and have been involved with the Ladies' Luncheon, the Summer Kick-Off Party, Rose Show, the cast party, and the Queen's Coronation ushers. Deborah Robertson has been the chairperson of the hospitality suite for out-of-town participants and their families since 2006.

Mallory Jane Robinson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Robinson, of Tyler, is a sophomore at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, where she is majoring in strategic communication.
Miss Robinson is a 2009 graduate of Grace Community High School, where she was a member of the varsity golf team for two years and the varsity cheerleading team for three years and served as captain during her senior year. She was voted NCA All American Cheerleader her senior year. She was a three-year member of the Grace Ashira Concert Choir, and received the highest ranking as a TAPPS State Vocalist in 2009.
Miss Robinson is a member of Green Acres Baptist Church, where she participated in the One-ten student ministry, sang in the youth choir, and volunteered for Vacation Bible School and participated in the youth group. She has volunteered in the community with the Salvation Army, Bethesda Clinic, Cattle Barons' Gala, Children's Miracle Network, Habitat for Humanity, the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and the East Texas Food Bank. Miss Robinson was a member of the Junior Symphony League where she received the Gertrude Windsor Distinguished Service Award. She also attended Kanakuk Camp, Mo., for four summers.
Miss Robinson participated in the Texas Rose Festival as a junior hostess and a runner for the Queen's Tea and was a Rose Parade participant for several years. Her mother, Cindy Robinson, has served on the Queen's Tea committee for several years, in addition to working as a backstage dresser.
Tyler relatives include her brother Christopher Robinson and grandmother Marilee Wheeler. Other family members include grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Roy Adams, of Dallas, and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Howard of Tupelo, Miss.
