Full Marathon Coming To Tyler Rose Festival
A full marathon will be part of the Texas Rose Festival this October, event organizers announced today.
Mellew Productions Inc., the producer of the Tyler Azalea 10k for the past 10 years and The Tyler Half the past three years, announced the Tyler Rose Marathon will feature a half marathon and 5k in addition to the marathon on Sunday, October 10, 2010.
“We are pleased to partner with the city of Tyler in bringing a major sporting event staged in conjunction with Tyler Rose festival activities," Lewis George of Mellew Productions said in a prepared statement. “We feel that not only the people of East Texas will enjoy having a distance running event in their neighborhood, but that many runners from Texas and surrounding states will come to Tyler for the
weekend.”
“The City of Tyler is energized about the upcoming marathon that will kick off in the heart of downtown,” city spokesperson Susan Guthrie said in the same prepared statement. “During this year’s Rose Season, there are more events than ever for visitors to enjoy.”
