Shots Fired During Robbery in Tyler
Tyler Police are investigating the report of shots being fired from one car toward another car early today in north Tyler.

Sergio Zavala told police he and three other friends were driving in the area of North Emerson after 1 a.m. today when they noticed that a red four-door vehicle began following them. Zavala and the other occupants of the vehicle began hearing gunshots from the vehicle that was following them, and also noticed muzzle flashes as well, they told police. The red vehicle began chasing Zavala's car through back streets of north Tyler until the wrecked his vehicle at the intersection of West Vance and North Moore.

Once the vehicle wrecked, a Hispanic male exited the suspect vehicle and approached Zavala and his friends, according to police. The suspect demanded money from Zavala and threatened to kill him if none was given. Zavala told police the male was holding his waistband as if he was concealing a firearm. Once Zavala was unable to produce any money, the suspect yelled to the other passengers in the suspect vehicle to give him the gun. Once the suspect realized that Zavala had no money, he attempted to remove the car stereo but was unsuccessful, according to police.

The suspects left the scene and no injuries were reported, police said. The suspects are identified as two Hispanic males -- one standing approximately 5-feet-6, weighing 140 pounds, wearing a blue shirt, blue shorts and black “Wave” cap. The second wore a red shirt and black Wave cap and was approximately 5-feet-4 and 120 pounds.

This case is under investigation at this time, police said.
