September 7: Never Truly Alone
ROSES: Thank you East Texas.
While sitting beside my dear husband's bedside in the emergency room last week it occurred to me how busy the hospital was. So many people, so much activity yet so very lonely. As the hours ticked by it seemed most times my only companion was that constant gnawing pain of fear, worry and despair in the pit of my stomach.
Then the nurses began to bring the little bags of blood that they hung carefully from the IV poll beside my husband's bed. It was then I realized I was never truly alone.
Somewhere among that sea of unfamiliar faces, someone had taken the time. Taken the time to give blood. They didn't know me or my husband but still they had taken the time.
Between work, school, children, paying the bills and day-to-day life someone had taken the time.
I will never look into a stranger's face quite the same again. I will offer a smile and a kind word.
Although I am unable to give blood as I once did because of health reasons someone else took the time. I thank you. God provides for us before we even need it, through his people. Thank you God's people.
