Kilgore Bulldogs Take 23-10 Win Over Hallsville
HALLSVILLE -- Frank Reddic rushed for 167 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Kilgore Bulldogs to a 23-10 victory over former district rival Hallsville here Friday night at Bobcat Stadium.

The win lifts Kilgore to 2-0 on the young season while Hallsville drops to 1-1.

Trevor Moon pitched in with 63 yards on just four carries as the Bulldogs rolled up 266 yards on the ground.

After turning the ball over twice in the first quarter, Kilgore forced a turnover of its own by scooping up a fumble on the Bulldog 1. With the help of two personal foul penalties by Hallsville, Kilgore marched the length of the field on 11 plays. Andrew Ector picked up 28 yards on a reverse before Reddic capped off the 99-yard effort with a 3-yard touchdown run. Ryan Bustin added his first extra point of the night at the 11:21 mark of the second quarter.

Hallsville moved into Bulldog territory on the ensuing possession, but Shaun Edwards snagged another loose ball and raced 62 yards to paydirt. Bustin's PAT put Kilgore on top 14-0 with 9:42 remaining in the second quarter.

The Bobcat offense answered with a 14-play, 61-yard drive which included a 50-yard pickup on a screen pass from Tom Lee Hutchinson to Quantrail Johnson. Casey Lightle connected on a 36-yard field goal with 1:40 left in the half.

After the teams exchanged punts to start the second half, Hallsville embarked on a four-play drive, covering 41 yards. A.J. Jones ran for 23 yards on the first play of the possession and later plowed into the end zone from nine yards out. Lightle's extra point cut the Kilgore lead to 14-10 with 4:45 left in the third.

With Kilgore facing third-and-3 from its own 27, Reddic exploded through the line and down the field for a 73-yard touchdown run. The PAT bounced off the goal post, but the Bulldogs held a 20-10 advantage heading to the fourth.

Bustin later made up for the missed extra point, nailing a 45-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to cap off the scoring.

Meanwhile, the Bulldog defense stiffened, holding the Bobcats to 25 total yards over their final three possessions.

Jones led the Bobcat offense with 73 yards on 21 attempts, including one touchdown. Hutchinson added 20 yards on the ground and 74 through the air before exiting the game in the second quarter with an apparent wrist injury.
