High School Volleyball Tuesday Roundup
Robert E. Lee Sweeps Hallsville To Notch 18th Win
HALLSVILLE -- Robert E. Lee needed just over an hour to bounce back from its second defeat to sweep Hallsville, 25-13, 25-21, 25-13.
Lee senior Sarah Sivertson paced the team with 11 assists, nine kills and three aces. Eva Story and Jennifer Menard totaled 10 and eight digs, respectively, and Haley Weaver finished with five blocks.
"We played okay, but Hallsville didn't play us well at all," said REL head coach Melissa Lee, who added that the hosts had lot a hard-fought four set match with White Oak prior to facing REL.
The Lady Raiders (18-2) were stopped by Richardson in the championship game of the Tyler Invitational Saturday at Lee Varsity Gymnasium. It was the second time REL had lost in a tournament's championship game.
"We played Richardson a good game and should've pulled it out," Lee said of Saturday's 25-23, 20-25, 25-22 loss. "We were up six points (19-13 in third game) and just didn't finish it out."
Lee will next take on McKinney Boyd at 7 p.m. Friday at Boyd High School. McKinney Boyd competed in last weekend's Tyler Invitational and won the Gold Bracket, its only loss coming in pool play against Richardson.
Notes: Lee's JV beat Hallsville in two games (25-21, 25-22). The Lee Freshmen split their matches with 9th Red beating Hallsville (25-21, 11-25, 25-23) and 9th White losing to White Oak (25-23, 25-10). Both the JV and freshmen teams will be in action Friday at McKinney Boyd.

Pine Tree Tops Whitehouse
LONGVIEW -- Pine Tree played inspired volleyball on its home floor, defeating Whitehouse 25-11, 19-25, 25-20, 25-20.
Whitehouse was led by Abigail Crawford (12 kills, five blocks, dig), Rachel Tidwell (eight points, one ace, two kills), Ashley Crank (10 digs, assist) and Mallory Smith (16 points, three kills, one assist, block).
Whitehouse (15-5) returns to action Friday against Troup (4:30 p.m.)
In the freshmen match, Whitehouse improved to 7-1 with an 18-25, 25-10, 25-13 win.
In junior varsity, the LadyCats fell to 6-2 with a 25-20, 25-10 loss.

Grace Sweeps Henderson
Grace recorded its third consecutive win over UIL Class 4A competition with a sweep of Henderson on Tuesday night.
The final score was 25-11, 25-17, 25-15.
Grace was led by Kayla Konon (12 assists, six digs), Maggi Jones (eight blocks, five aces, two kills), Sydney McFerron (eight blocks, four kills) and Lynsey Stackhouse (nine assists, six aces).

Rains Gets Past Sulphur Springs
Rains defeated Sulphur Springs in four games, 18-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-18, in a non-district volleyball match.
Rains (9-3) used solid offense from Chelsea Hudson (10 kills, three blocks) and Torrie Talkington (10 kills, 6 blocks). Marlee Canada finished with 24 assists.
Rains will next compete at the Brownsboro Tournament, beginning Thursday with pool play at 1 p.m. at Brownsboro High School.

Hawkins Rallies Past Gorman
Hawkins rallied to beat T.K. Gorman in a highly-contested match that went five games.
The final was 23-25, 21-25, 26-24, 25-19, 15-13.
Hawkins won the junior varsity match, 25-20, 25-22.

Quitman Sweeps Chapel Hill
QUITMAN -- Candace Rushing had eight kills and 10 digs to lead Quitman to a three-game sweep of Chapel Hill on Tuesday.
Quitman won by scores of 25-11, 25-9, 25-9.
Other Quitman standouts included Tanya Peddy (19 assists, eight aces), Laney Heuerman (four aces, six digs) and Abbey Delp (six kills, five aces, 10 digs).

Grand Saline Coasts Past Athens
ATHENS -- Grand Saline needed only three games to get past Athens, 25-18, 25-13, 25-15.
Grand Saline was led by Diana Wilt, Amanda Rucker and Lauren Rodgers.
Grand Saline (9-5) returns to action at the Brownsboro tournament Thursday.

Arp Beats Palestine, Rusk In Dual
Arp swept Palestine and Rusk in dual match action, beating Palestine 25-9, 25-20, 25-15 and Rusk 25-19, 25-16, 25-16.
The Lady Tigers were led against Palestine by Kandace Sipes (11 kills, two aces, seven digs), Kelsey Allen (six kills, nine digs), Alex Holland (10 digs, 12 service points) and Mallory Roberts (17 assists).
They were paced against Rusk by Sipes (18 kills), Allen (24 digs, 14 service points) and Roberts (26 assists, seven digs).
Arp (20-8) will play at San Augustine on Friday (4 p.m.).

Scurry-Rosser began league play with a 25-10, 14-25, 25-21, 25-21 against Edgewood.
Edgewood was led by Ashley Kay (five kills, 10 digs), Emily Eggleston (12 kills, nine assists, 12 digs), Dominique Lyons (10 digs), Trisha McDaniel (seven kills, 165 digs) and Brittney Eason (17 assists).
Edgewood (14-6, 0-1) returns to action Friday at home against Farmersville.
