September 3: Cornyn Fan
Sen. John Cornyn has been a great voice for Texas values in the United States Senate. He has advocated lower taxes, responsible spending, and strong national security.

His opposition to bills containing wasteful special interest give-aways leaves him open to unfair attacks, because the ear-markers usually attach these provisions to bills that are difficult to vote against. For example, the senator opposed an alternative energy bill due to unrelated and unnecessary earmarks. It takes political courage to take these stands, and that is exactly why true reformers are few and far between in Washington.

Cornyn is one of those who is willing to rein in wasteful spending regardless of political costs.

He is not afraid to vote against government waste, even when it allows his opponents to attack him unfairly. Allowing such attacks to succeed would guarantee the reform we want to see in Washington will never happen.
