Rep. Leo Berman At Republican Convention
Rep. Leo Berman, R-Tyler, said although Gustav abbreviated the full slate of speakers scheduled for Monday, he expects Republicans to make a move in the polls following McCain and Ms. Palin's acceptance speeches.

He said the Democrats made minimal spikes during and after their convention and that he anticipates Republican speakers will continue to ignite the party.

"I can feel the energy building," Berman said from the convention in Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minn.

Berman and other delegates took part in a 4 to 6 p.m. meet and greet reception with Ms. Palin, he said. Berman believes Ms. Palin proved herself as Alaska's governor with her stance against established politicos and policies within the state.

He said Texas' delegates are excited about the choice because of Ms. Palin's track record on abortion and the Second Amendment and that a perceived lack of experience will not be a factor in the election.

"She has more experience than the top of the Democratic ticket," he said. "She does, she has more experience than Obama himself."
