Grace Wins Shootout With Eustace, 36-28
By CHRIS PARRY
Staff Writer

It was a day at the races for Grace Community and Eustace as the teams combined for 652 yards rushing and 64 points.

In the end, it was Grace's defense that stymied Eustace enough to secure a 36-28 victory Thursday at All Saints' Mewbourne Field.

The matchup was the first of four games to be played at Mewbourne in the Tyler Football Classic.

Grace sophomore Cameron Broderhausen rushed for 168 yards and scored two touchdowns (42, 22). The remaining Cougars' points were posted by quarterback Grant Ingram, who totaled 118 yards and three touchdowns (1, 2, 22).

Eustace's ground game was equally impressive. Fullback Shawn Baldwin carried 15 times for 127 yards and a 4-yard touchdown, Trevan Johnson racked up 105 yards and quarterback Chris Compton totaled 73 yards and three scores (5, 27, 5).

The teams traded touchdown punches in the first half with Grace leading 24-22 at the break.

Eustace took its first lead late in the third on a 5-yard run by Compton, but it was all Grace after that.

The Cougars scored twice, first on a 22-yard run by Ingram and a 10-yard blast up the middle by Broderhausen, to vault back in front, 36-28.

The Cougars defense did the rest. Grace stopped Eustace on downs twice in the second half, highlighted by a fourth-down sack by sophomore Bradley White and a game-clinching interception by junior Steven Stanley.

The Tyler Football Classic continues today with host All Saints battling Buffalo at 7:30 p.m. at Mewbourne Field.
